Acting your age - but staying a fun person.

Now. We hear this a lot from our parents. My parents used to tell me to ‘act my age’ all the time. I hated it. This was before I became 18. But once I did, my parents seemed to know that I can switch between acting ‘grown up’ to being childish.

 Now, I never want to fully grow up. I love loving life and playing with children and joking around. But thanks to someone who used to work in my youth group. I saw that you can balance it. And be a fun, crazy fangirl. And also act like a ‘grown up.’

 I work with kids and my youth group. So, I am pretty much always around children and teenagers. I love it! But, you do need to find that balance between. Acting grown up and being crazy.

My personality is this.

Crazy, love to laugh, will do stupid things just so people will laugh, outgoing, introverted (depends what is going on), caring, emotional, hopefully a good sense of humor….

 So yeah! I love to laugh. I get it from my parents and my uncle Robert. (Who is the strangest person in the world…. )

 But, I work and have school. And working with kids, they need to know that they have a grownup who can care for them. So, it is hard to find a balance at first. And with babysitting. The parents need to know that you can handle what happens. BUT, you need to be the type of sitter who the kids want to come back and play with them.

One little girl I babysit for is an only child. So when I sit for her… oh gosh. One day we played ‘tornado’ we made a tent in the living room with chairs and got sleeping bags. We got in the sleeping bags and when she yelled ‘tornado!’ I grabbed a side of bag and we shook ourselves like the tornado was shaking us.  Then after we got tired of that game (And our hair was sticking up everywhere) we went to her room to play ‘swimming pool’ on her bed. We got on her bed and ‘swam around’ on our bellies. I love this child!

The mom is awesome! I will tell her about the games and she is like. “Yeah… We play that often”

 (As you will see… My kids will be spoken about a lot.)

 But you need to find that balance of being ‘out of control’ and ‘Grown up’. Be fun! Oh my gosh my friends and I…. We get crazy. But I am comfortable around them. Because I know if something should happen. They can handle it. If something happened and I got hit by a car. I know they would do the right thing and call 9-1-1 and keep me safe until they arrive.

 So… search your heart. And start thinking about how you act around other people. I may not matter too much now. But it will once you get a job and start working.

Stress

 Stress – a word we hear a lot. And a feeling we feel a lot. I feel it right now as I watch one of my best friends who is also stressed.

 Now, I just started college. And Boy do I love it! I love the classes, love the teachers, love the people. (And from what I have seen girls, college guys are way better than highschooler guys.)

 I get stressed a lot, I have a lot of problems. (more about those later) But I mostly stress about school and life.

 I’ve never been good in school. Having a math test is worse than dying in some ways for me. I’d rather not have any more math classes. And guess what; I have a math test coming up. (Well… three exams for different classes.)

 I stress about life. Not really knowing what I want to do with myself and where I want to go. I’ve never had a boyfriend and I somewhat stress about if I will ever find that guy that’s meant for me or not. And right now I am dealing with a ton of stress.

 It isn’t easy. And I have some non-healthy ways to handle it that I know I shouldn’t do. But my friends are my life. My friends are what keep me from going crazy and keep me looking to the good of things.

 Each time I feel myself slipping in stress I try and text my friends. And tonight as I can’t sleep I texted two of my friends. One is guy and the other is a girl. (I have more guy friends than girls….) And we talked. And they made me laugh. They made my night and made up for these past couple days being horrible.

  There is always a light at the end of the tunnel. When things look horrible… there is a bright side. The Bright side to these couple days is that I have a family who loves me. And friends that will stay up late just to talk with me and make me laugh. I know these two friends will be by my side when things are bad. I am not always a great person. But they know that and accept that. And to me; that means a lot.

 And Also though this time I have learnt that God is there. I started this day dreading it. Feeling alone and scared. But I prayed this Bible verse an hour ago.

Psalm 143:7-10 (NIV)

Answer me quickly, Lord;
    my spirit fails.
Do not hide your face from me
    or I will be like those who go down to the pit.
 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
    for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
    for to you I entrust my life.
 Rescue me from my enemies, Lord,
    for I hide myself in you.
Teach me to do your will,
    for you are my God;
may your good Spirit lead
me on level ground.

Right away my two friends texted me and we spoke. And I was laughing. I feel better now. And I know I am not alone, even though I may feel it sometimes. Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.
9 Rescue me from my enemies, Lord,
for I hide myself in you.
10 Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God;
may your good Spirit
lead me on level groundLet the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.
9 Rescue me from my enemies, Lord,
for I hide myself in you.
10 Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God;
may your good Spirit
lead me on level ground
or I will be like those who go down to the pit.
8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.
9 Rescue me from my enemies, Lord,
for I hide myself in you.
10 Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God;
may your good Spirit
lead me on level ground.

Temptation.

Hello! This is my first blog post and my first real blog. And hopefully I can keep up with it.

 Today in church I got the idea for this blog. Our messages was on giving. But I got the idea for my first blog post to be on temptation. And here it is.

What do you think about when you see the word TEMPTATION?

 Does it scare you? Or make you excited? Now, if you say it makes you excited. Please leave. Because you aren’t human in the slightest bit.

 Some about me –

My name is Emily and I am in college. This is my first year and I love it!

 What does that have to do with this blog post; well…. Life is hard. I am trying to figure out what I want to do with my life and when I was younger I was addicted to something pretty bad. And I am over it but the temptation Is still there. It isn’t easy.

 Temptation is everywhere. And it is very hard. But how to avoid it.

1.       PRAYING! Yes, the Bible answer. But it is true. On the mornings on the way to work or school I pray. And God helps me when the temptation comes.

2.       Keep busy! (there will be a whole blog about this) if you are busy. When you are tempted there will be no time to do it.

3.       Stay with friends. My friends are my life! When the temptation comes I can go to one of them. I have two very close girl friends and one guy. Now, admittedly it is easier to go my girl friends because… well. I am also a girl. But my guy friend is there to make me laugh and just to talk too.

4.       Tell somebody! Have that one person you can go to and say “Hey, it’s happening” and let them help you through it. I have two people. My best friend of ten years and my youth pastors wife.

  It is AWESOME to know you aren’t alone! And you aren’t! I will be making an e-mail for this and you can e-mail me if you have questions or just need help with something. But it is better to have someone you can speak face to face with.

 And you aren’t alone! Jesus was even tempted ((((((BIBLE VERSE>>>)))))

Say no, hang with good friends! And have that one AWESOME Christian friend you can go to when you are tempted. And pray

I love you all and hope to be able to keep up with this!
